Dale LeRoy Ashley

Ashley, Dale LeRoy – age 90, of Enfield. On this day, March 7, 2024, Dad drew his last

earthly breath and went to be with his first wife, Marilyn and second wife, Sharon.

Dad was born in 1934 at home in Dutch Settlement, weighing in at two pounds, the oven door being his incubator. Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman and kept a lot of people in trout for many years. Many more people knew him from him gathering their recyclables. Dad started his work life with Leo Isenor Trucking, driving a gravel truck. He also worked at Stanfield International Airport cleaning planes, but the majority of his work life was spent at Shaw Brick in the cement end of the business.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Audrey Ashley; sister, Thelma; brothers, Arnold, Ivan “Yank”, Andy, Malcolm and Lee; granddaughter, Morgan.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Rick); Kevin (Colin), John (Crystal), Jennifer (Joey), Beverley (Kevin); stepchildren, Angela (John), Edward, Andrew (Clarence), Derek (Nathanal). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Dad’s wishes there will be no funeral service but a graveside service will be held in the spring.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village. A reception will follow downstairs in St. George’s Anglican Church, Dutch Settlement.

As Dad would say “We’ll see you in the funny papers”! RIP Dad.
