Dooks, Rosalie Elizabeth - age 86. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mum on September 26, 2024 in Dartmouth General Hospital.
Mum was a very good cook and baker and made the best boiled icing. Mum loved watching the birds come to her many feeders. Mum had a love for music, and played the pump organ at many family gatherings over the years. She enjoyed going to the variety shows at the hall and would sing along with the crowd. Mum loved her card games, crib and 45’s. She enjoyed family functions and loved watching grand kids and great grandkids having fun. Mum enjoyed shopping, especially on the Shopping Channel.
She had been a Sunday school teacher for a short period at the United Church of Canada in Oyster Pond. She was the treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary for the Oyster Pond and Area Station 26 Fire Department for many years. Mum had also been in a bowling league for many years. In her earlier years, Mum was a school teacher in Oyster Pond.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Ron) Myers, Diana (Darrell) Newcombe, Heather (Tony) Mills, Tanya Mills; grandchildren, Shawn Dooks, Melissa Myers, Philip (Nancy) Mills, Shannon Myers (Blayne), Kayleigh (Liam) Landry; great-grandchildren, Hannah Myers-Humphreys, Breanna and Emma Lee Landry.
Born in Oyster Pond, Jeddore, Rosalie was a daughter of the late Marjorie (Myers) Mosher and step-daughter of the late Roy Mosher. She is predeceased by her husband of many years, Sylvanus “Junior”; son, Jason; and son-in-law, Darrell Mills.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 9 at 1 p.m. in First United Church, Musquodoboit Harbour with Rev. Joan Griffin officiating. Family flowers only. Reception to follow downstairs in the Church Hall.
