Pansy May Maskell

Maskell, Pansy May – It is with sadness that the family of Pansy May Maskell announces her passing on January 2, 2024.  Pansy was lovingly attended to by loved ones and caregivers at Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth.

Born in West Jeddore in 1938, Pansy was a daughter of the late Walter and Clara Blakeney.

Besides her parents, Pansy was predeceased by her husband, Hurson Maskell; brother, David Blakeney; and sister-in-law, Laura Blakeney.

Surviving are her brother, Walter (Marjorie) Blakeney; sister, Jean (Horst) Wiesner; niece, Linda Maskell; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great great-nieces.

Pansy graduated from Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in 1957 and completed several related courses at Dalhousie University, graduating in 1968. She spent 35 years teaching school in the Jeddore, Oyster Pond district. After retirement Pansy was actively involved in her church. She was Women’s Ministries President for 7 years, foreign and home missions coordinator and served in several other areas.

Pansy enjoyed vacationing in Annapolis Valley for many years with her husband, Hurson, family and friends.  She enjoyed family gatherings and in her spare time loved to read.

Visitation will be held January 10th from 6-8 p.m. and a funeral service on January 11th at 1 p.m., both in Jeddore United Baptist Church. Burial will follow in West Jeddore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Jeddore Cemetery or Jeddore United Baptist Church
