Donald Wayne Fletcher

Fletcher, Donald Wayne - Age 73, of Truro and formerly of West Gore passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023.

Born in West Gore, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy Fletcher.

Although Donald dabbled in sales of dairy equipment and supplies for Nova Dairy Equipment, selling water softeners at Ron Joy Enterprises, Donald worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator much of his life retiring from Dexter Construction.

Donald dedicated 35+ years to the Gore District Volunteer Fire Department. Donald felt that, along with others, it was necessary for the community to have a functioning fire department, after seeing one of our neighbours lose their home. He was most interested in repairing and overhauling used fire trucks. Donald proudly served as Deputy Chief for 16 years. He received numerous awards, including The Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of 20 years of loyal and meritorious service to public security in Canada from the Governor General of Canada.

A favorite pastime for Donald was watching NASCAR racing and anything cars. Nothing made Donald happier than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are Donald’s wife, Beverly (nee Clarke); sons, Shawn (Amanda) and Jason (Nicole); granddaughters, Martina (Cody) and Kaylee; grandsons, Tristan (Amelia), Blake, Brody and Wyatt; brother, Owen (Linda); sisters-in-law, Etta and Grace Fletcher.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Laurie; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Delma Wile.
