Carl Glenroy Miller

Miller, Carl Glenroy – Born in Lantz in 1931, Carl Glenroy Miller passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90 on March 31st, 2022.

Carl was predeceased by his parents, Charles “Charlie” Miller and Florence “Flora” (Green) Miller; sisters, Grace (James) Draycot, Shirley Blois, Marie (Robie) Ashley, Joan (John) Haynes; brothers, Harry (Blanche) Miller, Hector Miller.

Surviving Carl is his wife of 69 years, Joyce Harriet (Newman) Miller; son, Robert (Patricia) Miller, daughters, Wendy (Richard) Isenor, Laura Miller and Lisa (Steven) Tully; grandchildren, Nicole (James) MacDonnell, Natasha (David) Benjamin, Shannon (Valerie) Isenor, Amy (Ronnie) Trowsdale, Suzanne (Dirk) Taylor, Tyler (Miranda) Miller, Brandon Smith, Raynah Tully, Cassidy Tully & Madison Tully; four great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

Carl was a caring father and grandfather who, except for a brief time in Ontario, spent his whole life providing for his family in Lantz where he was a well known and loved member of the community.

He started his trucking career with Leo Isenor for approximately 10 years, then he went on to receive many safety awards and recognition for 1 million and 2 million miles driven while spending 25 years as a truck driver for LE Shaw. During that time Carl had many ride-along passengers who later followed his footsteps in the trucking business.

Carl had a passion for draft horses from his time working with them as a boy and would never turn down an opportunity to see his favourite Percheron or Clydesdale breeds at exhibitions and shows.

A fan of carefully mixed Captain Morgan white rum and coke, in his younger years Carl and Joyce attended many dances in the areas surrounding Lantz.

When it came to trucks (and cars) nothing could beat a Ford for Carl.

Carl loved visits from his grandchildren and liked to reminisce about the old days working with horses and trucking logs in a 1943 Ford one ton.  He had many friends he met over the years of trucking and at horse shows and was always a modest gentleman who loved a good conversation about whatever was on your mind.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and we hope those who knew him well will have a toast to Carl.
