Hoare, Leona Gertrude – Age 85, passed away with family at her side Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Leona loved to travel by train, plane or motorhome. She hunted, fished, snowmobiled, bowled, skiied, skated, four wheeled, attended card parties and tapped trees where she would spend hours at the “Sugar Shack” with husband Keith and family and friends. She was game for rollercoasters, zip lines and loved to spend time with her family at amusement parks. She was fun to be with and shared her sense of humor which often ended in tears of laughter.
Leona is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, and one true love, Keith; son Barry; brothers, Donnie Moore and Roy Moore; sisters, Donna Chapman, Toots Terry and Erma Mowatt; and her parents Lyda and John Moore.
She is survived by children, Michael Hoare and Janet (Glenn) MacKenzie; grandchildren, Louis Wolston, whom she raised from 11 months old; Paula (Craig) Ferdinand; Tracey (Abe) Higgins; great-grandchildren, Josie and Sawyer Higgins, Emmett, Cooper , Jesse and Parker Ferdinand; sisters, Marie (Wally) Parsons and Judy (Marvin) Rath. She will be greatly missed by all of her family.
She had wonderful friends throughout the years who also meant a lot to her. They shared in many of the things that she loved to do.
