Eleanor "Ellie" Marguerette Corkum

Corkum, Eleanor “Ellie” Marguerette – age 80, of East Mountain and Wileville, left this world peacefully with her daughter by her side in Elk Court Seniors Care Home, Brookfield on December 10 2021.

Born in Pleasant River, she was a daughter of the late Pitt and Leola (Veinot) Smith.

Mom worked largely in the administrative sector holding jobs with Irving Oil, Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth Courthouse and until her retirement, Canada Manpower in Bridgewater.

Mom always had a pen and notebook in hand and loved to talk and share about Jesus. She always lent a helping hand in whatever way she could. Mom had a big heart for everyone, praying for everyone she knew. She was small in stature but mighty in prayer. She knew nothing was too big for her God. Even just two months before she passed, with the Alzheimer’s robbing her of clearly communicating, she could pray clearly and mightily.

She is survived by her children, Valerie (Dwane) Johnson, Kevin Corkum; stepchildren, Rick (Beth) Corkum, Dana (Todd) Smith; grandchildren, Danielle (Tim) Yorke, Komya Corkum, Kaylan Corkum, Nicole Corkum, Thomas (Alisha) Corkum, Kayla Smith, Josh Smith; great-granddaughter, Oona Yorke; siblings, Mildred Markvardsen, Shirley (Ken) Frank, Cedric (Susan) Smith; nieces and nephews who all were very special to her and many dear friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Albert; and her brothers, Roman and Randy.

A special thank you to caregivers, Beulah, Ursula, Bethany, Janet and VON for all their care that enabled us to keep her at home with us for three years, as well as Elk Court for her care this past year and for showing her dignity and respect as she prepared to leave this world. A big thank you from the family for all you have done.

We will be holding a celebration of life and burial at a later date in 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, Bridgewater.
