Shaw, Joseph Augustine “Gus” - Age 86, of Truro, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2020 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. He was born in Main-A-Dieu, Cape Breton, to the late Joseph and Sarah (Lathigee) Shaw. Gus worked for the federal weather service (Environment Canada) for 33 years, with postings in Halifax, Goose Bay Labrador and Truro. Gus was extremely creative, he loved painting and drawing, ceramics, music (teaching himself to play many stringed instruments). He was a lover of history and local folklore, and especially liked to explore and beachcomb in the Main-A-Dieu area.
Gus was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will always be loved and missed by his surviving family, his wife of 63 years, Connie (O’Leary) Shaw; son, Jim (Colleen) Shaw; daughter, Kelly (Terry) Terris; daughter, Paula Shaw (Randy Fisher); grandchildren, Joe Shaw (Jessica Watling); John Shaw (Jenna Young); James Shaw; and Sarah Shaw. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Betty Richards; Marie Degaust, and brother, John Hall.
Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

By request there will be no visitation, and a private service will be held for family only. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
