Baker, Anthony “Tony” Charles – Meaghers GranBaker, Anthony “Tony” Charles – Age 74 of Meaghers Grant. Tony’s family is saddened to announce his passing on October 23, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Torquay, England, he was a son of the late Roland and Edna (Hodges) Baker.
Tony came to Canada at the age of 16 to help on his great-uncle’s farm in Morinville, Alberta. He later attended NAIT to obtain his training as a journeyman carpenter. After meeting Trudy, the love of his life, and marrying in 1979, they moved to Nova Scotia to be closer to family. He was blessed with three beautiful daughters whom he adored. He was devoted to his family and the community. Throughout his life, he was an active member in St. James United Church, the volunteer fire department, a scout and 4-H leader and a long-serving member of the Lions Club. He was a good man, always kind, gentle and the first to lend a hand. He retired from the HRSB where he was a well-loved friend to students and teachers alike. Tony loved traveling especially to visit family in England, St. Kitts, B.C. and Ontario. Family Sunday dinners were a treasured part of the week, whether at home or in a pub.
He will always be loved and missed by wife, Trudy (Bayer); daughters, Susan (Darren) LaSaga, their children, Adalyn and Sam, Carrolls Corner; Kathryn (Véron) Lake, their children, Véron and Paige, St. Kitts; Janet (Carlos) Esquivel, Ottawa; sister, Averil (Dick) Lister, England; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Turner, Musquodoboit Harbour; brother-in-law, John (June) Bayer, Edmonton.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Pam and her husband Des Maley.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 1-4 p.m. in St. James United Church, Meaghers Grant with COVID restrictions in place. A private funeral service will be held.
Memorial donations may be made to Parkinsons Society or St. James United Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
