Maskell, Hurson Oland – Age 86, passed away August 3, 2019 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, following a brief illness. Born in Head of Jeddore, he was a son of the late Roland and Marjorie (Dooks) Maskell.
Hurson worked in construction for over 40 years until he retired in 1995. He was an active member in the church for many years, and enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, and time spent at the trailer in the Annapolis Valley.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Pansy (Blakeney); brothers, Robert, Arthur; brother-in-law, Walter (Marjorie) Blakeney; sisters-in-law, Laura Blakeney, Jean (Horst) Wiesner; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, William “Bill”, Keith, Donald; sisters, Annie Hiltz, Marguerite O’Neil, Deanna White, Pearl Roy; brother-in-law, David Blakeney.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 7–9 p.m., and funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m., both in Marine Drive Pentecostal Church, Head of Jeddore, with Pastors Wayne and Tanya Dooks officiating. Donations may be made to Marine Drive Pentecostal Church or West Jeddore Cemetery.
