Betts, Stanley Russell “Papa” – Age 75, of Porters Lake, died peacefully on January 10, 2019, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, with family by his side. Stanley was born and raised in New Glasgow, married and eventually settled in Porters Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne “Bonnie” Coulet, daughter, Pamela (Dave) Rothwell; son, Stanley Jr. (Tina May); granddaughter, Ashley Rothwell (Nathan Dennis); great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn, four sisters; and one brother. He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters.
He was proud of his trade as a machinist/fitter, working his career life at DND Halifax. He was a quiet kind-hearted man who enjoyed the outdoor life, fishing and hunting. He appreciated his time with family on camping trips and at the family cottage. He spent his retirement years with family and friends, making his woodworking projects, time at the pool and gardening. Stan and Bonnie had many adventures during their various trips down south. Stan also enjoyed a good party with country music and dancing with Bonnie and a cozy campfire.
All are welcome to the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16th, in St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 3293 Highway 7, Lake Echo. Refreshments will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Parks Canada or a charity of your choice.
