Barr, Stewart James – Age 90 of Stewiacke. It is with great sadness that the family announce Stewart’s peaceful passing on August 23, 2018, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by his family. Born in Shubenacadie, he was a son of the late John and Adelaide (Williams) Barr.
Stewart had been employed at National Gypsum, Milford, for more than 30 years. He could often be found enjoying a softball game as a spectator, and also played and coached for many years. He was an avid hockey fan who enjoyed many games with his wife, Bessie. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting.
Surviving are his children, Debbie, Jamie, Cindy (Vince), Donnie (Grace); brother, Ross (Marion). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, each of whom were very special to him and he always enjoyed the time he spent with them. He was predeceased by his wife, Bessie (Moore); granddaughter, Rebecca; son-in-law, David MacPhee; brothers, Harold, Willis, Lowell; sisters, Florence, Louise, Bessie and Norma.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m., in Brookside Cemetery, Mill Village, Rev. Angus MacDonald officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
