Myers, Peter James – of Conrod Settlement, passed away January 30, 2018, at home. Peter was born and grew up in Myers Point, Jeddore, with his grandmother, Roxanna.
As a young man, Peter left for the city to seek employment, working in retail business, always returning to the country for weekends. In 1953 he met the love of his life, Nora, on a dance floor at the Beech Hill Inn. They were married September 1955.
As a young couple with two small boys, Peter and Nora set off on a lifelong adventure, first in New Brunswick, then Ontario, where Peter worked in the hospitality industry. They later worked their way back to their native Nova Scotia, with their boys now young men. Peter worked as a ship’s purser with Bedford Institute of Oceanography until retirement. The next several winters were spent on Vancouver Island. Peter’s most enjoyable time, regardless of the season, was spent at his woods camp where he was in the process of building a brand new camp.
He is survived by his wife, Nora (Marks); sons, Brad (wife, Hattie); Brian; daughter-in-law, Laura (Russell); grandsons, Luke, Daniel, Sean and Trevor; great-grandson, Tyson.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at 2 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Lower Ship Harbour. Reception to follow in Ship Harbour Community Hall. Memorial donations may be made to Missions to Seafarers or a charity of your choice.
