Smith, Terrence Austin “Terry” – Age 66 of Chaplin, passed away April 30, 2017, with family at his side in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit, following a long struggle with cancer. Born in Chaplin, he was a son of the late Herman and Audrey (Horne) Smith.
Terry was retired from Wilson Equipment Ltd. after over 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed being outdoors, four-wheeling, listening to George Jones, spending time at the camp, and spending time with family. Never one to have too many idle moments, he enjoyed tinkering in the garage. He always was there to lend a helping hand expecting nothing in return.
He will always be loved and missed by daughters, Tara (Doug) Champion, Tanya (Bartley MacAloney), both of Truro; Tracey (Steven Jollimore), Liverpool; step grandchildren, Brett and Nicole Champion; sister, Venetta, Chaplin; brothers, Leslie (Colleen), Milk River; Brock (June), Chaplin; Todd (Susan), Truro; sister-in-law, Wanda, Chaplin; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda; brothers, Kennard and Wade.
Cremation has taken place. The family will meet friends for a reception on Sunday from 5-7 p.m., in Sharon Presbyterian Church Hall, Dean. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be made to Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation – Hospital, or a charity of choice.
