Baker, Daniel “Sonny” Guy - It is with great sadness the family of Daniel “Sonny” Guy Baker announce his sudden passing in the early hours of September 4, 2024.
Sonny was predeceased by his loving parents, Verdun and Verda Baker; sister, Donna; brother, Ralph; and his dear friend, Wilfred “Woffy” Cross.
Sonny is survived by his loving sister and very best friend, Dale “Sissy” Baker, Ostrea Lake; sister, Charlene (Allan) Campbell, Alberta; niece, Michelle (Danny) Baker-Johnston, Musquodoboit Harbour; nephew, Ralph Baker, Alberta; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Sonny was a gentleman, a gentle soul and a teddy bear of a human being. He loved easily and deeply – seeing the very best in people, observing and appreciating wildlife, delighting in the wonder of children and puppy dogs. Sonny’s appetite for what was simple and good endeared him to all who knew him. Although he couldn’t cook, he loved good food and always made a point of thanking the cook. In many ways Sonny was equally strong and gentle, naïve and wise. Seeing the world through a lens of kindness allowed Sonny to enjoy the simple things in life, live everyday with a grateful heart, and know the world in a kinder and gentler manner than most. We hope that all who knew him can picture his absolute delight as he greeted those who went before him, with that big smile that lite up his entire being. In the words he uttered so very often himself as he departed “Love ya brother”.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Ostrea Lake Fire Hall on Saturday, September 28, 2 to 4 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
