Jean Farrell

Farrell, Jean – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of well-known North Sydney resident, Jean Farrell. Jean was a beloved grandmother, mother, wife and sister during her incredible 86 years of life. She passed away peacefully November 7th, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre surrounded by her loving family.

Jean had a long and full life. Born on May 1, 1935, in Flowers Cove, Newfoundland to loving parents, Thomas and Georgina Lawless.

She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.

Jean was always the life of any family gathering. Laughter and smiles were common when she was around. She was selfless and put other first. She was an example to so many and a shining light to all who knew her. In earlier years, Jean would enjoy their annual trips to Florida. In later years, her enjoyment came from her children and grandchildren. The door was always open for everyone near and far. When you think of Jean, celebrate the good memories you have of her. She will be missed more than words can express but always in our hearts.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Milton Farrell. She is survived by her children, Betty (Bryden) MacDougall, Antigonish; David (Virginia) Farrell, Stewiacke; Blair (Flor) Farrell, Ontario; Patricia Pero, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Alexandra, Kayla, Sarah, Jessica, Chelsea, Jacob, Mora, Hunter, Mark, Maddy; and siblings, Ed Lawless, Gerald (Mary) Lawless, Mary (Harry) Katrynuk, Linda (Daryl) Rendell, Renee (Mark) Romanowsky, Mick (Bonny) Lawless, Sue (Kenny) LeBlanc and Patricia Lawless.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two infant grandchildren, Tanner and Derek; and by sister, Susan Howley; and two sisters in infancy.

Funeral will be at Dooleys Funeral Home, North Sydney on Saturday at 2 p.m.
