Day, Donald Roderick Sutherland

Day, Donald Roderick Sutherland – Age 80, of Chaswood, passed away October 2, 2015, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Chaswood, he was a son of the late Sidney and Helen (Malay) Day. Don had been employed with Municipal Construction for many years as a machine operator and mechanic. He loved being around farm animals and proudly showed his horses at the local exhibition. He was an avid hunter. His family knew of his sweet tooth and that there would always be candy around somewhere.

He loved his family and grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Connie; son, Donald (Orma); daughters, Wendy (Bayfield Hines), Margot (Tim Benvie); grandchildren, Stephen, Donald, Michael, Brittany, Willie, Jessica; brothers, Stuart, Sidney (Elaine), Leonard (Denny); sisters, Helen (Harvey) Lively, Ivy Buckley, Lorraine Day; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Day; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Lawrence; sister-in-law, Florence; brother-in-law, Bill Buckley.

Cremation has taken place. Friends are welcome to drop in to Don and Connie’s home on Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m., to share a cup of tea and a story. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
