Warren Williams Day

Day, Warren William – Age 63, of Head of Jeddore.

It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on June 3, 2021 with his loving family close by.

He was a son of the late Vernard “Bub” and Jean Day.

Warren leaves behind many loved ones to mourn and carry on his memory. His cherished wife, Janet; children, Colin (Lesley Lohnes) and Alicia (Shawn MacDonald); Grampie’s grandbabies, Elise, Rylan, Bradyn, Leah, Shelby, Angelise; siblings, Earl (Shirley), Marion (Jack), Melvin (Bon) and Grace; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

We would like to thank all of the compassionate staff of the QE11 CVICU who cared so well and fought so hard for Warren during his time there, as well as the exceptional support offered throughout his illness.

Timothy Leigh Decker

Decker, Timothy Leigh – Tim, not Timmy, passed away suddenly and peacefully on June 3, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, at the age of 59.

Tim crashed into the world in Middle Musquodoboit and the lives of the Decker family were never the same again. He was a hyper child who was always making trouble, into trouble or hurting himself. Tim was always the instigator of many family laughs. He had a huge heart but was known as the “grumpy old man” by his family. Tim worked on dairy farms in the area, and in Ontario for 20 plus years as a carpenter and later as a grader operator for Will-Kare Paving and more recently with Basin Contracting. He loved to hunt and fish, had a great interest in guns and berry-picking. We are left wondering where the secret blackberry bush is.

Surviving are siblings, Aaron (Cecilia), Dartmouth; Jeannette (Mark), Upper Stewiacke; David (Stéphane), Ottawa; Lorraine (John), Upper Musquodoboit; brother-in-law, Wayne, Chalk River, ON; and his chosen brother, Stephen Johnson, Upper Stewiacke; nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Tamara, Brittany, Devon, Natalie, Hannah, Maggie. He will be dearly missed by his dog, Alex who was his companion for 18 faithful years.

Tim was predeceased by his parents, Ernie and June; sister, Iris; brother, Garth.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Larry Franklin Henley

Henley, Larry Franklin – age 65, of Dean passed away June 2, 2021 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Russell and Mary (Lemmon) Henley.

Larry spent his working years in the forestry industry until he suffered a spinal cord injury in 2000.

Family was important to Larry and he looked forward to annual family reunions which were held at his home. Larry was passionate about sports of all kinds and was an avid Habs fan. He was a lifetime member of the Lemmon Hill Sports Association and took pride in knowing there were activities for his community.

He will always be loved and sadly missed by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Lucy (Lemmon); sisters, Donna (Lee) Crossman and Lisa (Jason Boutilier); niece, Julie (Trent) and nephew, Chad (Gillian).

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Until then, please join us on our back deck (groups of 10) to share memories.

Audrey Williams

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Audrey Williams (Isaacs Clarke), of Dartmouth on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the age of 81 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, George; children: Peggy Snook, Sharon (William) Emberley, Gwen (Brent) Richardson and Greg (Kathleen) Williams; son-in-law, Terry (Tammy) Lufkin; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Susan) Isaacs; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

She will also be missed by her friends at the Grace Baptist Church and other churches she was a member of since her coming to know Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour.

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Melinda Isaacs, William and Margaret Clarke; brother, Basil Isaacs; daughter, Susan Lufkin.

Audrey's love for her family and friends was evidenced in many ways including the numerous photos and drawings on her fridge and around her home. She loved to study and share God's word with others.

Memorial services will be held at later dates in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Warren, Maine.

The family wishes to send notes of special thanks to Audrey's family doctor and the MS Clinic, in addition to the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital for their care and compassion.

Victor MacDonald Fisher

Fisher, Victor MacDonald - Age 75, of Middle Stewiacke passed away May 25, 2021 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro from Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Clarence and Lois (Peterson) Fisher.

He married Margaret “Margie” Kaulback on February 12, 1966. Together they raised their daughter, Pam. He always worked as a truck driver, first for Brookfield Foods and later Thompson’s Transfer.

When Pam was in her late teens and early twenties, her dad was a father figure in many of her friend’s lives. He was always there to lend a helping hand . He was a constant handyman, mechanic and professional mover. He was lovingly known by his grandchildren as Bumpy or Bumps. That nickname followed him for almost the last 20 years by everyone who knew him. He was a wonderful father and simply the best grandfather you could ever imagine.

His grandchildren were the center of his world and he will be missed so much by daughter, Pam (Greg Johnston); granddaughters, Courtney, Kelsey and Abbi; brother, Lloyd; sisters, Marlene (Jimmy) Feener, Doreen (Gordon) Frank and Nancy (David) Keddy.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margie; brothers, Earl and Curtis; nephew, Everett Deyarmond.

Cremation has taken place.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery.

Mary Ann (Monk) Rose

Rose (Monk), Mary Ann - age 50, was a loving wife, daughter, mother, teacher and friend. She passed away suddenly on May 22, 2021. Born in 1970, she was the daughter of Marilyn (McCulloch) Monk and the late David Monk.

Surviving are her loving husband, Derek; son, Mekenzy; and mother, Marilyn. She was predeceased by her father, David and brother, Stuart.

Mary was a dedicated teacher for nearly 30 years. She loved her job and spent many, many hours trying to create an enjoyable learning experience. This was something that she thrived on and it showed through in her students, past and present. She was the bright light in all our lives. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating incredible meals for her family and friends. Providing for others gave her a sense of accomplishment and joy. She loved to be near the water listening to the waves crash on the shore, especially during a storm. Mary’s love for cats was apparent to all, having convinced us of the need to care for the first stray kitten to show up on our doorstep...then the second...then the last two adopted from the SPCA... all over time, of course! Mary Ann touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with through her kindness, smile, and contagious laugh. She was also happy to pitch in with her guitar and voice to add to any occasion.

Mary often said that she would never want a funeral or service. She would say “Why would I want some group of people filing by my casket, commenting on how good or at peace I looked? I’ll be dead! Of course I won’t look good! Just put my ashes on the bar, get everyone a drink of their choice, then tell them to go home!”

We think that it would be fitting that any memorial donations that anyone may like to make could be directed to IWK Health Foundation, Metro Turning Point, HATS or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Cremation has taken place and we will be taking Mary’s ashes to be by the ocean...she always wanted to retire where she could hear the surf pound against the rocks. Our household tea consumption has, unfortunately, dropped dramatically.

Estella "Stella" Therese Bonang

Bonang, Estella “Stella” Therese - passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021, in Dartmouth General Hospital, after being cared for by her family in her home in her final years. She was born in 1930, in Seaforth, where she spent her entire life.

Stella was a proud French Acadian, who married Melvin Bonang and went on to have five loving, caring children. Stella worked at the clam processing factory in Grand Desert, and then went on to shelling and selling clams out of her home in Seaforth for many years. Much of the community will remember her as “the clam lady”. One of her greatest joys were her adventures up and down the Eastern Seaboard with her family in the blue Chevrolet with the makeshift camper and iconic stovepipe. Stella also had an absolute love for life, and kept busy picking berries, knitting and playing bingo. She was at her best when enjoying time with friends and family, dancing, eating, laughing and hugging. Some of her guilty pleasures were candy, sparkly jewellery, boyfriends (Santa included), and the love of the Monarchy (Lady Diana). To know Stella was to love her, with her infectious laughter and comforting hugs, she lit up any room with her warmth.

She was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Agatha LaPierre; brother, Hector; and her husband, James Melvin Bonang.

Surviving are her children, Theresa (Gordy), June (Arthur), Rodney, Lance (Heather), Sidney (Robyn); her lovely grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In Stella’s memory the family asks you to take time and hug a loved one. We would also like to send a warm thank you to caregivers, Jean Nieforth, Jessie Strong and Leona Bellefontaine who enabled Stella to stay in her home as long as possible.

Marilynn Sylvia (Penny) Tully

Tully (Penny), Marilynn Sylvia – of Lantz, passed away suddenly May 16, 2021.

Born in New Germany, Marilynn was the second daughter of the late Oscar and Annie (Powers) Penny. 

She will forever be loved and deeply missed by her children, Sherry Baker, Steven (Lisa), and Tricia (Jeff Miller); grandkids, Ronni (Garrett Doncaster), Randi (Ryan Shaw), Victor, Raynah, Cassidy, and Madison; whom she gave her eternal devotion. She is also survived by sister, Barb Couturier; brother, Victor Penny (Linda); sister-in-law, Laura Penny. She was predeceased by husband, Dennis; son-in-law, Barry Baker; brother, Glen Penny; and other loving family members.

Known as “Tully” to coworkers Marilynn enjoyed applying her strong work ethic and congeniality for 35 years at Canada Post; being part of the wider community and in doing so making many friendships.

Cherished siblings and friends were invaluable to her and everyone enjoyed her quick wit, humour, intelligence, crafty flair, kindness, hearty laugh, and informed opinions.  She appreciated tradition, and some were fortunate enough to have been on the receiving end of her talented penmanship.  She was a smart cookie and kept up with technology, carrying on communications using her Ipad to email, text, send pictures, play games online, and take the occasional Facetime call.

She had a passion for knittin’ mittens which made their way to various charities, schools, and a number of countries globally.  Without missing a stitch, her second passion was watching Sid the Kid who in recent years trumped lifelong idol, Elvis.

In days gone by Marilynn loved playing sports, making ice cream and chocolates, bowling, sewing, playing cards/games, fishing, dancing, painting, and most of all, raising her family.

Marilynn was interested in everything and in particular, avid reading, baking/cooking/pickling, music, puzzles, crosswords, Sudoku, cryptoquotes, being outdoors, bird watching, gardening, and racing her lawn tractor around her property at record speed.

Her favourite events were weekly trips shopping and eating out, friends’ birthday pizza parties, her Christmas Eve open house, and New Year’s Eve celebrations spent eating lobster with her siblings.  She was delighted at her surprise bowling party in 2020 for her 80th where she won the silver medal.

Although Marilynn and her husband Dennis enjoyed many vacations and outings over the years, she considered being at home her solace, surrounded by nature and her beloved chickadees which she trained to eat from her hand.  Always welcoming and in good spirits, she was a confidant to many, and you felt a better person for being in her company.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

There will be no funeral service.

Jack Lyman McBurnie

McBurnie, Jack Lyman – Age 70, of Valley, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2021 with his wife and most precious son at his side, losing his 8 year battle with cancer.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Jack and Marjorie McBurnie.

Jack had been employed with Halliday Craftsman for 20 years and more recently for Kohltech Windows and Entrance Systems for 29 years. He was an avid sports fan always rooting for the Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Gail; son, James Edward; brother, Randy; sister, Carolann; friends too many to mention. He will surely be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Gratitude is extended to sister-in-law, Linda McMaster and all her family for all their kindness and readiness to help; to the Palliative Care Team in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro and Chemo Unit in Halifax. Thanks to Joanne Greene; Bonnie Gail Burton, Debbie Whooten, Elaine Burton, Lisa and Tammy McMaster; great-niece Emma and great-nephew, Harley whom he loved dearly. Dana Burton Wry

Wry, Dana Burton – Age 57, of Brookfield passed away April 29, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Moncton, NB, he was a son of the late Harry and Betty (Beers) Wry.

Dana had been a cabinet maker for Stewiacke Home Hardware for 20 years, more recently he went to BMR in Brookfield where he was a contractor and sales consultant. For many years he operated his own cabinet making business specializing in kitchens.

His passion was his family and he will always be loved and sadly missed by daughters, Kennedy and Holly; partner, Shelley and her daughters, Rebecca (Alex), Katelyn (JT) and Christine; sisters, Jaunita (Dean) Scott, Moncton; Shelley (David) Cail, Harcourt, NB; twin brother, Dean (Bernice), Moncton; brother, Jim (Debbie), Mundleville, NB; sister-in-law, Judy Wry, Moncton; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Wade.

Cremation has taken place.

Paul Byron Barr

Barr, Paul Byron – We, the family of Paul Byron Barr, sadly announce his passing on April 29, 2021 in Truro, at the age of 83.

Paul was a son of the late Ted and Etta (Boyd) Barr of Millidgeville, N.B. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the age of 17 and served for five years in the communications sector.

After leaving the service, Paul found joy working in radio and television broadcasting in the private sector while continuing his education.

Paul eventually found his way to the CBC where he had a stellar career in radio and TV news in both Fredericton and Halifax. His attention to details, quick wit, ready laugh and love of life earned him a faithful audience and the respect and friendship of his colleagues.

Paul was with CBC in Halifax for 22 years and was a long time member of the Armdale Yacht Club and served as Commodore, a job he took very seriously. His family knows he spent many happy hours there “just messing around in boats”.

He firmly believed his life would have been much more orderly if he hadn’t discovered sailboats, airplanes, scuba diving and golf.

Paul loved all things fun – including visits with friends and family and silly jokes, many made at his own expense. He also said he’d only believe in miracles if, just once, he could reach into a bag of bagels and find one sliced completely through.

Paul also said the most beautiful thing in a newsroom typewriter was a blank piece of paper and it was all his. He couldn’t wait to get at it. Then he’d say the scariest thing in a typewriter was a blank piece of paper and the clock was ticking to news time.

Paul is survived by his wife, Wendy Chapman; sons, Andrew and his partner, Achula; daughter, Kiersten MacGillivary; two granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Tanya (Peter), Stacey (Kevin) and Jason (Tara); two step-granddaughters; four step-grandsons; sisters, Connie Heighton of Hampton, N.B. and Joan (Bucky) Cannon of Dartmouth; brother-in-law, Hugh Fraser of Fredericton and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline Fraser of Saint John; sister, Shirley Green; younger sister, Marilyn; younger brother, Randy; brothers-in-law, Jim Heighton, Lincoln Green and Angus Fraser.

Paul and Wendy enjoyed the last 12 years together travelling and visiting their many friends and wonderful home in Florida.

Charles Glen Savoy

Savoy, Charles Glen – Age 83, of Upper Kennetcook passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on April 24, 2021. He was a son of the late Amos and Ruth (Lantz) Savoy.

Glen did auto body work most of his life. He enjoyed sitting around the kitchen with guitars and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his loving companion, Fay Parker; sons, Terry (Martha), Kevin (Nadine), Jeff (Kari); daughters, Valerie (Donnie), Sherry Ann; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Cory.

Farrell Paul Fancy

Fancy, Farrell Paul – Age 64, of Dutch Settlement passed away April 22, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit surrounded by family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late George and Ruth (Lowe) Fancy.

Farrell was raised in Bedford and always shared fond stories of his childhood. He was a hardworking roofer most of his life, always pointing out with pride which buildings throughout Nova Scotia that he laid roof on. When Farrell got the taste for travel down south, he was hooked. He loved spending time by the pool with family and friends. He was a diehard Jeff Gordon fan, having multiple collectibles proudly displayed throughout the house, the house that he built himself in 1977. We will miss the random phone calls we would receive from him. He would always know the weather in Iqualuit, where his daughter lives, before she did.

Surviving are wife, Eileen (Kaiser); son, Paul “P.J.” (Brenda); daughter, Shawna; brothers, Ford (Judy), Robert (Barb), Terry (Jane); many nieces, nephews and fur grandbabies. He was predeceased by sisters, Pauline, Noreen, Debbie.

Cremation has taken place.

David Allen Clarke

Clarke, David Allen – Age 71, of Coldstream, passed away April 21, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harold and Beryl (Gringley) Clarke.

Surviving are siblings, Mickey (Sandra), Debbie Clarke, Alan (Patty), Chris; sister-in-law, Joanne Clarke; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Stephen.

Marie Audrey Young

Young, Marie Audrey – Age 89, Musquodoboit Harbour. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother on April 11, 2021, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Jenny (Clattenburg) Slade.

Mom was a dedicated volunteer in the community and was recognized by the Province of Nova Scotia for giving of her time and talents for the betterment of her community.  She was involved in the St. Thomas ACW and the Harbour Lites Seniors Club.  She loved to bake and spent many hours in the kitchen preparing food for various community events.  Mom loved to play cards whether it be at the Seniors Club or at her kitchen table.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.  Mom had a great sense of humor that she maintained up to her final moments.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Walter) Hennigar, Cole Harbour; son, Lea (Beth) Young, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Jeff and Jacob; great-grandson, Kaeden; sisters, Evelyn and Gwen; and sister-in-law, Mildred.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Louis; brothers, Benny and Ivan; sisters, Frances, Lois and Irma; and her dear companion, Henry Moore.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will take place Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. for immediate family only in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Musquodoboit Harbour.  COVID-19 restrictions will apply.

Randall "Randy" Lynn Johnson

Johnson, Randall “Randy” Lynn - Randy  passed away suddenly on April 12, 2021 at his home in Dartmouth, at the age of 63.

He had been a valued employee at McLennan Sales in Dartmouth for 19 years having retired within the past year due to health concerns.

Randy will be sadly missed by his partner, Judy Attree; parents, Ray and Marg (Power) Johnson; children, Nick (Tia), Scott (Breanna), Jacob (Samantha); stepson, Tim Reid; stepdaughter, Deva McNeil; grandchildren, Lloyal Bowser, Ashton and Scott Johnson Jr.; step-grandchildren, Teagan and Maddy Roberts, Rylee Grant, Olyvia Muise, Ryan McNeil; siblings, Ron (Vera), Cheryl (Hugh) MacKay, Dawn (Phil) Denton.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Sunday, April 18, in Springside Community Centre, 7072 Highway 289, Eastville. COVID-19 restrictions are in place and masks are required. Family burial will be held at a later date.

Laura Audrey Blakeney

Blakeney, Laura Audrey – Age 75, of Lake Echo, passed away April 11, 2021 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in East Jeddore, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Nora (Baker) Freeman.

Laura was a dedicated church worker and thoroughly enjoyed running the church luncheons along with her husband, David and later with her niece, Elaine. She had a deep devotion to Evangeline Bible Camp in Debert.

Surviving are brothers, Weldon Hopkins, Ronald (Jennifer) Freeman, Leon Freeman; sisters, Muriel Cummings, Linda Freeman, Carol Freeman; brother-in-law, Walter (Marjorie) Blakeney; sisters-in-law, Pansy Maskell, Jean (Horst) Weisner; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David; sisters, Nora Hopkins, Frances Freeman; brothers, Glen Freeman, Maynard Hopkins; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hopkins; brother-in-law, Hurson Maskell.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral service will be by invitation only in Marine Drive Pentecostal Church with Pastor Scott Anderson officiating. Burial will be in West Jeddore Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Camp Evangeline.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

Walter Higgins

Higgins, Walter – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Walter Higgins, age 58, of Lawrencetown on April 5, 2021. He was a tremendous father, husband, brother, friend, son, uncle and neighbour. Walter grew up in Cole Harbour and spent his career as a hardworking, successful business man. He always had a way with words, making him a mighty negotiator and a mean scrabble player. Many joked that he had a deep voice meant for radio.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Janice (Conrad) Higgins and their children, Nathan (Nicole) Higgins, Brittany Higgins and Melanie (Matt) Higgins. He was the son of Eric and Joyce Higgins, Higginsville; brother to Colleen (Collin) Hillier; and uncle to their boys, Branden, Logan and Keagen, all of Fall River. Walter was truly a son to his in-laws, Fraser and Myrtle “favorite mother-in-law” Conrad, Cow Bay.

While his kids were growing up, Walter was involved in everything from coaching hockey, to softball, as well as a member of Scouts Canada. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many a spring fly fishing and hunting in the fall. Walter and Janice shared a love for the outdoors, spending many hours working on their gardens or relaxing in the shade of their pergola. Walter could easily be spotted hiking by his bright orange jacket, Boston Bruins toque and walking stick.

Walter considered Kejimkujik National Park his second home. He and his family spent countless time there, especially enjoying their time on the Mersey River paddling alongside their Keji crew. Walter’s happy place was around an open fire, a glass of red wine in hand surrounded by friends and family. He was always happy to get out on the course with his golf buddies, enjoying some banter and a few pops. He will be forever missed. A celebration of life will be organized in his honour for later this year.

Arthur Charles Pelham

Pelham, Arthur Charles – With deep regrets we announce the passing of Art Pelham, age 87, on April 5, 2021. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Coleman) Pelham.

Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice “Jan Belle” (Wood) Pelham; sons, Douglas (Deborah) and Lorne (June), both of Truro; Jeffrey (Shelley), Halifax; Joseph (Andrea), Hampton, NB; and chosen son, Jeffrey Wood, Halifax; granddaughters, Rachel Hamilton (Nicki), Victoria Pelham (Phil Walsh), Madison Pelham (Chandler Scott), Emma Pelham and Brooke Pelham; sister, Madeline Prowse of Cranbrook, BC; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sharon Wood; friend and biscuit lady, Barb Gorman.

He was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Howie; sisters, Mary, Annie and Doreene.

He retired from the Canadian National Railway after working 29 years. Art was an avid hockey and baseball fan. He followed the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, and Pelham Electric baseball team.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Mahon Cemetery in Great Village.

Joseph Wilfred Toole

Toole, Joseph Wilfred – Age 85, of Brentwood, passed away on April 1, 2021.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late John and Gertrude (Atkinson) Toole. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia (Leblanc); sons Robert (Thea), George (Trish), all of Brookfield; Andrew; daughter, Pamela (Robert) Moncrieff, Blackie, Alberta; grandchildren, Kelly, Mark, Rebecca, Jennifer, Hailey, Clint; five great- grandchildren; and brother, Chester (Judy), Truro.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by an infant son; sisters, Jane Godfrey, Joyce Coates, Barbra Geldart; and brother, Jack.

Joe owned and operated his own business, Joe Toole Backhoe and Excavating Services for many years. During the winter he worked for Department of Transportation plowing snow. He also worked with Irving Oil delivering heating oil. He loved to fish and hunt and you would see him and Pat at many dances throughout the area. Joe had many friends in the community, he loved telling stories and making jokes wherever he went. 

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Cedarstone with a special thanks to Victoria Way for caring and looking after Dad over the past years. 

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Interment will be held in Brookfield Westside Cemetery.  In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. If so desired, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
