Smith, Clara Louise “Kaye”

Smith, Clara Louise “Kaye” – Age 82, of Truro, passed away on February 13, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Kaye was born in Fox Harbour. Kaye is survived and will be missed by daughters, Yvonne Higgins, Val Smith and son, Greg Bell (Sandi), all of Truro; two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters; sister, Helen Canfield (George), Pugwash; brothers, Art Green (Bertie), Charles Edward Rhude, James Arnold Rhude, all of Ontario; sister-in-law, Donna MacNeil (George), Onslow Mountain; brother-in-law, Wayne Clews (Marolyn), Hilden; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be also missed by her beloved cats. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, Frederick D. Smith; mother, Ida Rhude; foster mother, Margaret Nairn; brothers, Donald, Gordon and Robert Rhude.

In her younger years, Kaye was an employee of several Truro businesses, including Brookfield Foods and Hall’s Pharmacy. In retirement, she raised thousands of dollars a year for the Colchester SPCA by knitting her famous cat-nip mice.

Special thanks are extended to the dedicated and caring nurses and homecare staff of the Colchester VON, Dr. R. Graham, and Lisa of the Palliative Care Unit.

There will be no visitation or funeral, by request. Kaye’s cremated remains will be buried at a family celebration of her life in Fox Harbour at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Colchester SPCA or Colchester Victorian Order of Nurses.

Creelman, William P. “Bill”

Creelman, William P. “Bill” – Age 75, of Truro, formerly of Upper Stewiacke, passed away February 11, 2016 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late William Creelman and Viola (Ashe) Luddington. Surviving are common-law wife, Frances; sisters, Violet, Trenton; Betty, New Glasgow; Helen, Ontario; brothers, Francis, Upper Musquodoboit, Henry, Prince Edward Island. He was predeceased by brother, Spencer.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request.

Holman, Gordon Charles

Holman, Gordon Charles – Age 81, Sheet Harbour, passed away February 9, 2016, in Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Sheet Harbour, after a two-year battle with cancer. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of the late Elmer and Hazel (Hardy) Holman. Gordon was an avid fisherman, hunter, bicyclist and ATV rider. He loved playing darts, playing pool with his friends at the Sheet Harbour Legion, and going to car shows to show off his beautiful 1969 Lincoln Continental.

He is survived by his sons, Gordon, Jr., Earth; Randall, Beaver Harbour; daughter, Lisa, Hawthorne, Calif.; granddaughter, Samantha Holman, El Segundo, Calif.; Eva Holman, former wife of 30 years; Dianna Westhaver, partner of 17 years; step grandchildren, Spencer Westhaver, Shay-Lynn Westhaver; sister, Carole Ann (Keith) Owen; sister-in-law, Janet Mahar (Holman); many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his beloved pets, Kitty Cat and Princess. He was predeceased by brother, Victor, and a brother in infancy.

Scott, Irene Margaret

Scott, Irene Margaret – Age 92, Newcomb Corner, passed away peacefully February 10, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. She had resided the past five years in Ivany Place, Bedford. Irene was born in Higginsville and lived there for most of her life. She taught school in Higginsville for many years until she stayed at home to care for her mother, father, and in later years, her brother, during their ill health. Irene enjoyed helping people and for a few years, worked for the HRM as a homemaker. She was a traveler and made several excursions throughout Canada and the U.S. with family and friends. Irene was a life member of Eastern Star and served as the Worthy Matron and Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Maude (Sinclair) Redmond; brothers, Victor and Burris. She is survived by her son, Gary (Beverley); granddaughters, Jennifer, Jacqueline (Derek Land), Stephanie (Paul Gorman); three great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; sister, Louise Logan; sister-in-law, Molly Redmond; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Riverside United Church, Elmsvale, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. A reception will follow downstairs in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Baker, Mason Leo Earl Jr. “Manny”

Baker, Mason Leo Earl Jr. “Manny” – Age 75, East Jeddore, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in East Jeddore, he was a son of the late Mason and Edna (Power) Baker. He was a carpenter and enjoyed many hobbies which included gardening, taking care of his animals, carving decoys, dancing, genealogy and reading. He also played the church organ for over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Gloria Anderson; daughter, Mildred (Alfred) Giovanniello and grandchildren, Ryan and Victoria Lushington, Ashley and Anthony Giovanniello, Citrus Springs, Fla.; son, Mark (Cheryl) and grandchildren, Christopher Dumont and Gabriel Conrod-Baker, Porters Lake; son, Graham (Tina) and grandchildren, Morgan and Allie, East Jeddore; brother, Danny (Sandra), Lake Charlotte; sister, Nellie Baker Stevens (Ronald), Owls Head; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sister, Doris Stevens; brothers, Robert, Wilson and Stephen.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m., both in Jeddore United Baptist Church, Rev. Aubrey Deslatte officiating. Burial will be in East Jeddore Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Jeddore United Baptist Church or Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital.

Baker, Arthur James

Baker, Arthur James – Age 67, of Musquodoboit Harbour, passed away quietly January 27th, 2016, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Survived by wife, Barbara, Musquodoboit Harbour; mother-in-law, Evelyn Lovett, Dartmouth; son, Jeffrey, Alberta; daughter, Christina (Kevin) Wagner; and special grand-daughter Caitlyn. In early years Art worked at Imperial Oil on the tankers, then for BIO on the Research ships, and finished his career at Nova Scotia Power before retiring. He was a loving husband and father with a generous nature and will be fondly missed by relatives and his many close friends. Many thanks to medical staff in the CCU at QEII Health Sciences Centre, and attending paramedics.

Cremation has taken place and a small service with reception will be held in Petpeswick Yacht Club on Saturday, February 6th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour.

Wilson, Timothy James

Wilson, Timothy James – Age 55, Grand Desert/ Lake Charlotte. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Tim, on January 31, 2016. He was a son of Blanche (Jamieson) Wilson and the late Jim Wilson. Tim retired after 34 years of serving his country. He spent many hours in his workshop making carvings to give away as gifts.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan; wonderful boys, James (Melanie), Adam (Brittany), Jeremy (Beth); the light of his life, granddaughter, Ava; sisters, Tina (Lloyd),   Margaret (Gerald), Jane (Dale).

Withrow, John Douglas “Jackie”

Withrow, John Douglas “Jackie” – Age 80, Enfield, passed away January 27, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by his family. Born in Elmsdale, he was a son of the late John and Ada (Weir) Withrow. Jackie had been a sheet metal worker for most of his working career. He played hockey and ball in his younger life and kept that interest right through to his grandchildren’s activities. Two of his passions were the Ottawa Senators and the East Hants Junior Penguins, rarely missing a game.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Miriam; children, Sandra (Vance) White, Pam (Rod) Dickie, Heather (Bill) Doyle, John (Shelly), Jennifer (Mark) McManus; brother, Bob (Maisie); sisters, Diane (Graham) Isenor, Carol Ann (Glen) Brown; stepchildren, Debbie Lake, Karen Henneberry. He was a special “Grack” to grandchildren, Chris, Adam, Cory, Ryan, Michael, Evan, Joel, Jaclyn, Jonathan, Amanda, Emily, Chloe; stepgrandchildren, Angela, Amanda, Amber, Lisa, Sarah, Chad, Randy; great-grandchildren, Josh, Kholby, Chance, Shaye, Ketch, John Jacob, Cayden, Ben, Cody, Gavin, Brandon, Ryder, Andrea, Brinlee. He was predeceased by his first wife, Erma; brother, Russell in infancy, stepdaughter, Gloria Reteff.

Larkin, Herbert Ashford

Larkin, Herbert Ashford – Age 92, Wittenburg, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2016 in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Shag Harbour, he was a son of the late Ephraim and Julettie (Greenwood) Larkin. After many years as a lighthouse keeper, Herbert moved to Wittenburg where he worked in the woods until retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and his family treasures his many carvings.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and is survived by his wife, Miriam; son, Ralph (Barbara); daughters, Jean (Dana), Evelyn (Jim); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie, Lorna, Gertrude; brother, David. He was predeceased by brothers, Ephraim, Clark; sisters, Lila, Nancy.

A private family memorial service will be held. Spring committal service will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Wittenburg. Memorial donations may be made to Faithwalk Community Church or Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation – Hospital, or a charity of choice.

McCallum, Ivan Charles

McCallum, Ivan Charles – Age 65, Onslow Mountain, received his wings on January 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Charles and Pansy (Ettinger) McCallum. Ivan was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest camping, four-wheeling, and some of his best memories were made on an old dirt road with a drink in his hand. Family meant everything to him, and he was proud to be a father and grandfather, and was very appreciative of the support provided by his wife.

Ivan’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Frances; son, Jason; daughter, Charlene “Sweetems” (Mike) Alchorn; grandson, Brendon; sisters, Vangie (Bob), Bowie, Geri, Violet (Bill), Diane (Richard), Bonnie, Pinkie (Bob); brother, Butch; sister-in-law, Starlene (Al); his four-legged companion, Buddy.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro. Memorial donations may be made to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.

Macdonald, Rev. Dr. Lloyd George

Macdonald, Rev. Dr. Lloyd George – Of Bedford, died at home on January 15, 2016. Born in New Glasgow in 1943, he was the son of the late John Harris and Lexie (MacDonald) Macdonald. George grew up on Pictou Island and in Thorburn, Pictou Co. After a brief career in banking, he felt called to become a minister of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University, then earned a Bachelor of Theology from McGill University. He graduated from The Presbyterian College, Montreal in 1974. In June 1974, he was ordained as a minister by the Presbytery of Pictou at Union Church, Thorburn. He served as the minister in Presbyterian churches in Port Cartier, Que., and Eckville, Alta., followed by three charges in Nova Scotia: Knox, Dublin Shore and St. Matthew’s, West Dublin, together with the United churches in the area, then in First Sackville Church, Lower Sackville, and Knox Church, Halifax. Dr. Macdonald was very active in the life of the Presbytery of Halifax-Lunenburg and of the Synod of the Atlantic Provinces, and was twice elected as its moderator. He also served on the Board of The Presbyterian College, and on committees of the General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. In May 2004, The Presbyterian College conferred on him the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity.

George was a person of deep faith, a diligent pastor, a talented preacher, a compelling storyteller and a caring friend to many people.

He is survived by his aunt, Hazel MacDonald, Pictou, and by several cousins.

A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced in First Sackville Church, Lower Sackville. A burial service will take place in July in Thorburn Cemetery, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his memory to The Presbyterian Church in Canada, 50 Wynford Dr., Toronto, ON M3C 1J7, to The Presbyterian College, 3495 University St., Montreal, Quebec H3A 2A8, or a charity of choice.

Blakeney (Arnold), Frances Ellen

Blakeney (Arnold), Frances Ellen – Musquodoboit Harbour/Porter’s Lake. The family of Frances Ellen (Arnold) Blakeney, 85, announces her peaceful passing on January 20, 2016, in The Birches Nursing Home, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Stewiacke, raised in Lindsay Lake and Meagher’s Grant, she was the eldest child of Albert Edward and Roxie Ellen (Redden) Arnold. Although dementia took its toll towards the end of her life, it never completely erased her childhood memories of living in Lindsay Lake and later, our family picnics at the lake “near Johnnie Redden’s Farm”. Olsen and Frances were married in 1948; moved to Porter’s Lake in 1959 and built their home on Millside Drive. There, they raised their family, lived out their lives until Olsen’s passing in 1995. Frances remained in their home until two serious falls placed her in The Birches.

She will be missed by her daughter, Sheila (David) Keizer; son, Floyd (Kathleen) Blakeney and their children, Katelynn and Kyle Blakeney; daughter-in-law, Betty (Ken) Thompson and her and Vernon’s daughter, Beth (Scott) Baker and their son, Logan Baker; sister, Iona (Carl) Gilroy; brothers, Keith (Shirley) Arnold and Clyde (Joyce) Arnold; brothers-in-law, Donald G. Patterson and Gilbert Slauenwhite. She was predeceased by her husband, Olsen; son, Vernon Olsen; grandson, Jeffrey V.O. Blakeney; sisters, Beulah Patterson, Goldie Slauenwhite and Ruby Alice Arnold (in infancy).

Cremation has taken place. A private immediate family graveside service will be held at a later date, Rev. Aubrey Deslatte officiating. The family would like to thank Rev. Deslatte and Jeddore United Baptist Church congregation for their words of comfort and prayers of support. Shannon, Norma Agnes

Shannon, Norma Agnes – Age 80, Eastville, passed away peacefully, on January 17, 2016. Born in Eastville, she was a daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Barkhouse) McCoul. Norma worked alongside her husband, whether it was in the garage or in their home. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and was a member of the Stewiacke Valley Garden Club. Norma was an avid dog breeder, winning many ribbons showing her dogs.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by husband, Bill; daughter, Marjorie (Gordon) Graham, Edmonton; sons, Bill Jr. (Angela), Eastville; Johnny (Avis Harvey), Hilden; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice (Adrien) D’Eon, Alta (Wayne) Fanning, Zelda (George) Streatch. She was predeceased by brother, Robert; sister, Mary Deagle.

Topshee (Livingstone), Margaret Ann

Topshee (Livingstone), Margaret Ann – Age 91. The Topshee family is sad to announce the passing of their mother on January 19, 2016, in Truro. Margaret was born in Sydney, a daughter of Andrew Livingstone (of Paisley, Scotland), and Margaret (MacDonald) Livingstone (of Sydney). Margaret was raised in Sydney and attended Sacred Heart School, and later, Mount Saint Bernard College in Antigonish. She worked in the field of social work in her younger years, and in later life as a teacher's assistant for the hearing impaired. Margaret married Leslie Topshee in 1945 and moved to Truro in 1946. There, they lived and raised their family of 10 children. Her quiet courage, her strength of spirit and sense of humour will be carried forward by all those who knew and loved her. Margaret loved to paint, she loved Brule Beach, and had an abiding faith. Above all, she was devoted to her family and friends. She strived never to say an ill word about anyone and to live her life according to her deeply-held belief in the importance of gentle kindness. She will be missed by all. There will be a gap in the lives of all her neighbours and her friend Patricia.

Margaret is survived by her children, Nancy (Kirk Pond), Maine; Colin (Patricia Mason), Wentworth; Joseph (Patricia MacDougall), Prince Edward Island; Mary (John Johnston), Halifax; Ron (Lisa Sholes), Virginia; Patricia (Scott McVittie), Lunenburg; Stephen (Sarah Thomas), Truro; Michael (Margot Latimer), Halifax; 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Leslie; daughter, Teresa (Jeff Goodspeed), Dartmouth; son, John (Candace Myers), Winnipeg; infant daughter, Jeannie; brother, Hugh Livingstone.

McMullin, Eva Mae

McMullin, Eva Mae – Age 77, of Lake Egmont, passed away January 19, 2016, in Braeside Home for Special Care, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Lake Egmont, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Eileen (Corbett) Sanford. A wife and mother at a young age, Eva was always a hard worker who put her family first. She enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing, playing bingo, playing cards, listening to country music, and going to old-time dances.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn (Mervyn) Higgins, Mildred (Keith) Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Judy; grandchildren, Nancy, Joey, Danny, Daryl, Kyle, Alicia, Josh, Chelsea; great-granddaughters, Hanna, Aubree; brothers, Kenny, Larry, Aubrey, Leonard. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; sons, Melvin and Albert; sister, Freda; brother, Earl.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in Nuttall Hill Cemetery, Antrim, at a later date. Donations may be made to Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation-Braeside, or Nuttall Hill Cemetery Fund.

Young, Glenna Marie

Young, Glenna Marie – Age 72, Musquodoboit Harbour, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2016, in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in West Petpeswick, she was a daughter of the late Franklyn and Maud (Gaetz) Young. Glenna is survived by her brothers, Arthur, West Petpeswick; Robert (Isobel), Lawrencetown; Richard (Ann), Porters Lake; Garth, West Petpeswick; Murray (Marj), Dartmouth; Raymond (Carol), Alberta; Owen (Theresa), East Chezzetcook; Bruce (Gloria), Dartmouth; many, many nieces and nephews she cared very deeply for. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joan, Joseph, Maurice, Edna, James and Gerald.

Glenna lost her sight in 2006. She overcame this complication to live a full and joyful life in Chezzetcook and Forest Glen’s apartments in East Petpeswick, where she made many friends with whom she loved to play cards and share a tidbit of gossip or two.

Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Life will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Musquodoboit Harbour, Father Fabian Ihunego officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital or West Petpeswick Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Twin Oaks, Dartmouth General and Victoria General Hospitals for their great care and gentleness, as well as all Glenna’s home support workers who came over the years – your care made it possible for Glenna to live an independent life with family and friends.

Wellwood, Mary Katherine

Wellwood, Mary Katherine – Age 94, Lower Truro, passed away peacefully January 19, 2016 in Vimy Court Nursing Home, Bible Hill. Born in Caribou, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late J. Anderson and Anna (McCarthy) Harris (Caribou). Mary lived across the breadth of Canada and returned to settle in Truro in 1967. She was known locally as a woman of many talents and much generosity. Her interests were many and she enjoyed them: welding, baking, cooking, providing home care for others, blacksmithing, cake decorating, ceramics, pottery, rug hooking, animal husbandry, soap making and tending to her family. Those who knew Mary knew she enjoyed gardening with Stan and feeding her neighbours. She was a charter member of the Cobequid Firemanettes, and attended and taught at her church.

Mary will be missed and always loved by her sisters, Jean Rae and Josephine Somerville; her children, Jim (Phyllis) Harris, Bridgewater; Allan (Natalie) Wellwood, Truro; Collin Wellwood, Abbotsford, B.C.; Estelle (Ken) Nix, Grand Forks, B.C.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Christopher Harris; her granddaughter, Melissa Kleinsasser; sister, Estelle Wilson; brother-in-law, Stan Wilson; brothers, Murray and Roddie.

Logan, Orrie Mitchell – Age 75 of Dutch Settlement. With great sadness, we, the family, announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on January 16, 2016. Born in Dutch Settlement, he was a son of the late James Mitchell and Amy Edith (Isenor) Logan. Over the years, Orrie had many different jobs, but only one career. He loved trucking and he owned and operated Logan Trucking Limited for the past 36 years. He enjoyed stock car racing, along with his trip to Newfoundland moose hunting, hunting at the camp with his brother-in-law, Russ, and nephews, Whitney and Joe. He enjoyed working on his trucks, going to the Nine Mile River dances, and hanging out with friends and family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Higgins); daughters, Nancy (Bryden Ashley), Tamara (Lindsay) Veniot; grandchildren who he adored very much, Jessie (Devin), Katie (Colton), James, Alyssa (Chris); and his very special great-grandson, Anthony Orrie; sister, Inez (Lester) Isenor; brother, Ivan (Wilma); mother-in-law, Esther Higgins; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Calvin, Hiram, Aubrey; sisters, Greta, Marion, Golda, Millicent; father-in-law, Russell Higgins, beloved nephew, Cpl. Thomas Hamilton.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday from 3-7 p.m. in Riverline Activity Centre, 80 Grono Rd., Dutch Settlement. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.

van de Riet, Maria Elisa Agnes

van de Riet, Maria Elisa Agnes – Shubenacadie. 1937-2016. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Elisa Agnes, on January 14, 2016 at her home in Shubenacadie, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Roosendaal, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Emma (Hontele) Schepers. In 1959, she immigrated to Nova Scotia with her husband, Chris, and their seven-week-old son. They purchased a dairy farm in Shubenacadie in 1964, where they raised their family and lived until their retirement in 1989. Maria was a long-time active member of St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church. Her passions included travelling, music, gardening, puzzling and most of all, spending time with her extended family. She always put her family first, except when it came to family card tournaments with a trophy up for grabs! Maria was self taught in English and could complete crossword puzzles in both English and Dutch. She will be sadly missed by her many long-time friends. Kindness and unconditional love are her greatest legacy.

She was predeceased by Chris, her loving husband of 38 years, in 1996 and is survived by her son, Chretien (Alberta) van de Riet, Shubenacadie; daughters, Betty (Sean) Donahue, Williams Lake, B.C.; Dr. Margot (Bob) Rudstrom, East Grand Forks, Minn.; and Alma (Mike) Harlow, Porters Lake; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Austin, Kristine (Sheldon) Larkin, Amy (Tyler), Carter, Erin and Karl Rudstrom, Brigitte and Monica Harlow; great-grandchildren, John, Brooke, Finley, David and Vander. She is also survived by her family in the Netherlands; brother, Paul (Guusje); sisters, Jeanette (Kees), Alma, Adrienne (Jan); sister-in-law, Elly; and brother-in-law, Joop. She was predeceased by her brother, Ad; and her sister, Lidwina.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie, Father Joseph Thomas officiating. A reception will follow downstairs in Campbell Hall. Burial will take place at a later date.

Donations in Maria’s memory may be made to Colchester East Hants Health Foundation – Community Palliative Care Program. The family would like to thank all the VON nurses and palliative care doctors (Dr. Henderson and Dr. Aries), and especially our guardian angel, Dawn Ross, her palliative care nurse, who made her journey easier. McLellan, Judith Mary

McLellan, Judith Mary – Age 69, Shubenacadie East, passed away suddenly on January 10, 2016. Born in Cheverie, she was a daughter of Donald Arthur Ross and the late Joyce Marie (Weatherbee) Ross. Judy loved music, crafts, sheltering animals, and she adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; father, Donald; brother, Glenn, both of Cheverie; son, Trevor Harvey (Cheryl), Elmsdale; daughter, Charlene Harvey, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Logan Harvey-Shannon, Cassandra Stephens-Harvey; stepsons, Dwayne, Shubenacadie; Kevin, Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Leona Ross, Gore; nephew, David (Kim), Halifax. She was predeceased by her mother, Joyce; brother, Donald.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Shubenacadie United Church, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to The Lung Association Nova Scotia.
