Smith, Clara Louise “Kaye” – Age 82, of Truro, passed away on February 13, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Kaye was born in Fox Harbour. Kaye is survived and will be missed by daughters, Yvonne Higgins, Val Smith and son, Greg Bell (Sandi), all of Truro; two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters; sister, Helen Canfield (George), Pugwash; brothers, Art Green (Bertie), Charles Edward Rhude, James Arnold Rhude, all of Ontario; sister-in-law, Donna MacNeil (George), Onslow Mountain; brother-in-law, Wayne Clews (Marolyn), Hilden; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be also missed by her beloved cats. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, Frederick D. Smith; mother, Ida Rhude; foster mother, Margaret Nairn; brothers, Donald, Gordon and Robert Rhude.
In her younger years, Kaye was an employee of several Truro businesses, including Brookfield Foods and Hall’s Pharmacy. In retirement, she raised thousands of dollars a year for the Colchester SPCA by knitting her famous cat-nip mice.

There will be no visitation or funeral, by request. Kaye’s cremated remains will be buried at a family celebration of her life in Fox Harbour at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Colchester SPCA or Colchester Victorian Order of Nurses.
