Daigle, Joseph “Joe” Edward – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Edward Daigle of Head Chezzetcook on October 6, 2023.
Joe was born in a small, remote mining community, Caribou Mines to Lydia (Pettipas) and Edward Daigle. He grew up in East Chezzetcook and as a young man worked in Newfoundland and Ontario. He was a licensed carpenter and worked with many organizations over the years and was skilled in finish carpentry.
Joe had many interests and hobbies including camping, hunting, baseball, darts, bowling, cards and reading. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage and in later years washer toss with his friends on Fantasy Island. He was an avid sports fan, most especially a devoted Montreal Canadians fan. He had a love of nature and animals.
Over the years, Joe devoted many hours to community volunteering including the Chezzetcook Fire Department, coaching baseball, and the Eastern Shore Ground Search and Rescue.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cookie (Carole Duggan); children, Joanne, Gerry (Wanda), Carole (Gary); grandchildren, Lisa, Dana (Paul) and Joseph; brother, Diddy (Reginald) (Mel); his beloved companion, Smokey; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded by his father, Edward; mother, Lydia; sister, Dianne Johnson; and many family and dear friends which he often remembered fondly.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in St. Genevieve’s Cemetery, East Chezzetcook on Friday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in Lion’s Club Community Hall, East Chezzetcook.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Shore Ground Search and Rescue or any animal charity of your choice.
