Hicks, Joyce M. – Age 67 of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 in Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with family by her side.
Born in Tyne Valley, Prince Edward Island, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Doris (Gilroy) Paugh.
Joyce loved to socialize whether it be on the phone or entertaining others. She enjoyed talking to people, singing and playing the guitar. Many knew of her “band-night” gatherings in the rec room in her building. She was always the most caring and giving Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling and friend to everyone who knew her.
She will always be loved and missed by her lifelong partner, Gary Higgins; son, Gord (Amy); daughter, Sheila (Doug); grandchildren, Brandon (Darla), Kelly, Justin; great-grandchildren, Flynn, Autumn; siblings, David (Helena), Eldon (Laura), Barb, Martha (Lawrence); and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by younger brother, Medley; sisters, Carol Ann and Judy Mae, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Vaughn.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, 2 – 5 p.m., in Colchester Legion, Truro. Burial will follow on Tuesday, at 12 noon in Amherst Cemetery where she will be placed with her Mom as requested.
Memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of choice.
