James "Gordon" Crowe

Crowe, James “Gordon” - passed away August 14, 2021, at the age of 94. Born in Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Dyson H. and Alice (Smith) Crowe and the husband of the late Erna (Scranton) Crowe.

Gordon graduated from NSAC in 1946 and in 1948 graduated with a BS in Agriculture from McGill University. He worked in the family business, Crowe’s Feed Mill, until 1968, when he went to work for the government of Nova Scotia in rural development and then as an agricultural representative. He contributed to the community in many different ways throughout his life as a member of the Grand Lodge, church warden and lay reader, caretaker of the cemetery, member of several different choirs, hospital board, town council, volunteer fire department and town historian.

Surviving are his daughter, Myra, Ontario; sons, Dyson (Dionne), Fall River; Peter (Heather), Halifax; grandchildren, Michael, Brinsley, Nadia, Kyla, Jenna, Lisa and Morgan; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Wood; sister-in-law, Phyllis Crowe; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by sister, Pauline and brother, David.

A private graveside service will take place at a future date.

Memorial donations may be made to Parish of Stewiacke and Shubenacadie, cemetery account, 2856 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, NS B0N 2H0, or a charity of choice.
