Dickie, Claire “Hazelle”

Dickie, Claire “Hazelle” – Age 78, Eastville, passed away September 13, 2015, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Eastville, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Lela (Johnson) Dickie. Hazelle had been employed for a number of years with the Halifax Police Department, retiring to return home to care for her mother. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. Over the years, she had many dogs, and will be sadly missed by Gracie, her current companion.

Surviving are sister, Geannie (Bill) Kaulback; brothers, Oliver (Sharon), MacKean (Sheila); sister-in-law, Arlene; nieces and nephews, Donald, Sandra, Anne, Peter, Christie, Jennifer, Gordon, Sara, Kayla and Colleen. She was predeceased by brother, Lorne.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m., in Springside United Church, Upper Stewiacke, Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Eastville Cemetery. The family will meet friends for a reception in the church hall following the burial. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Springside United Church general fund or a charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

The family thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Victoria General Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Hazelle during the last few days of her life.
