Whitney (Langille), Helen Jean – Age 86, of The Birches Nursing Home, passed away peacefully March 15, 2015 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, with loving family members by her side. Born on July 3, 1928, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Anne Elizabeth (Edmonds) and Arthur Byron Blakeney. She was a member of Jeddore United Baptist Church for most of her life. Mom was predeceased by her first and third husband, Leo Lavern Whitney. She is survived by their daughter, Gloria Whitney. Mom is also survived by her former husband, Bud Langille, and their children, Mike (Karen), Bobby (Wanda), George (Rita), Glenda (Anthony Bonang), Bonnie (Buddy MacLean), Tina; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Dartmouth; Vera (Keith Sanford), N.B. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Clarence, Ronnie; sisters, Joan, Muriel; daughter-in-law, Gwen Langille; grandson, John Sullivan.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m., with funeral service Friday at 10 a.m., both in Jeddore United Baptist Church, 133 West Jeddore Road, Rev. Aubrey Deslatte officiating. Reception to follow downstairs in the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff of The Birches for taking care of Mom for the past five years. Some of you are truly angels and you know who you are. Also a special thank you to Dr. Hurly and the wonderful nurses of the Dartmouth General Hospital. Your special care and kindness is greatly appreciated. And to Dr. Price and the amazing nurses and staff of Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, we cannot thank you enough for the excellent care and compassion you showed to our loving mother, her children and grandchildren. You certainly made her last few days as comfortable and peaceful as humanly possible. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten.
