William "Bill" James Barker

Barker, William “Bill” James – Age 93, of Dartmouth, passed away January 8, 2022 in Dartmouth General Hospital.

Born in Woodside, he was a son of the late Henry and Gladys (Hertle) Barker.

Bill had been employed as a rigger with Dartmouth Marine Slips for over 45 years. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the country.

He will always be loved and missed by his wife of almost 65 years, Shirley (Gammell); daughters, Janice (Trevor) Leslie, and Judy West. Bill was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Courtney Avery (Craig Sears), Danielle West (Corey Publicover), Cory West (Katie Burton); and great-grandchildren, Alivia and Everly Publicover. He is also survived by sister, Darlene (Kenneth) Coolen; brothers-in-law, Wayne Gammell (Glenda), Victor MacKinnon, Alvin Lemmon; sisters-in-law, Frances Perrin, Martha Gammell, Wanda Smith, Nancy Gammell, Jane Stewart; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by granddaughter, Whitney Avery; brother, Ross (Gwen); sisters, Ruth (Bill) Hubbard, Mary and Joyce in infancy; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Mona Gammell; brothers-in-law, Terence, Calvin, Gordon Gammell, Dave Perrin, Kennard Smith; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Lemmon, Beverly Gammell and Dorothy MacKinnon.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Shirley Foster

On January 6, 2022, Shirley Foster passed away peacefully in The Mira, Truro after a short illness. She was 93. 

A daughter of the late Gordon and Mavis (Hilchie) Weaver, Shirley was born in Stewiacke.  In 1947, Shirley married Robert (Bob) Foster and they started their family in Stewiacke. There they raised two daughters, Brenda and Maureen. While Bob spent much of the child-raising years in the Navy, Shirley worked to provide a nurturing home for their girls, instilling in them a love of learning and the importance of education.

She and Bob enjoyed spending time with close friends, often Shirley’s sisters and brothers. There were many laughs from storytelling, but nothing quite matched the enjoyment of Halloween and other costume-wearing occasions (such as milestone birthdays). Halloween was undoubtedly Shirley’s favourite day of the year, as she looked forward to the clever costume-wearers who came to her door. Her reactions to great costumes made a Hallows Eve drive to Shirley’s house very worthwhile.

After first moving to East Stewiacke in 1974, Shirley and Bob started building their dream home in 1989. Located in West St. Andrews at the corner of the Coldstream and Alton Roads, the home became an expression of their respective passions. While Bob worked on the house itself and hand-crafted in his workshop much of the furniture, the landscaping was Shirley’s domain. You could expect to find her outdoors, wheelbarrow in tow, constantly expanding and adding to her yard and gardens. And if it were suggested that perhaps she could start turning yard work over to someone else, that suggestion was quickly ignored. Though she would never say so, she surely took pride when more than one couple asked to take their wedding pictures around the property.

It’s easier to describe someone’s dedication to their yard than it is to describe their approach to raising a family: the horticultural results are there for all to see. But Shirley’s devotion to being a mother and a grandmother is well-understood by her family and it was not unlike how she approached her gardens: with dedication, tireless energy, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from watching things thrive. After raising her own daughters, she continued to support them and their careers by caring for her grandchildren after school and during summer vacations. With little fanfare, Shirley nurtured another generation. She helped her grand kids with their schoolwork and even taught them how to ride their bikes, no training wheels involved—Shirley held the back of their seats while her grandchildren pedaled up and down her driveway.

Shirley is survived by daughters, Brenda (Richard), Maureen (Terry); grandchildren, Vaughn (Katie), Tyler (Sarah), Breanna (Andrew): all thriving because of her. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Sierra, Michaela and Camden and a fourth great-grandchild soon to arrive; brothers, Lorne and Eric.  She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Foster; sisters, Diane Erskine, Ruth Miller, Jeanne Fassett, Eva Fleming; and brothers, Vaughn and John “Dewey”.

Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of The Mira for their kind and compassionate care.

There will be no visitation or funeral at her request.

Dr. John Clegg Smith

Smith, Dr. John Clegg – Age 80, of East Gore. With profound grief we announce the passing of Dr. John Clegg Smith on January 6, 2022. Born in New Westminster, BC, he was a son of the late Wilfred V. Smith and Rose F. Smith.

John was raised in Vancouver attending UBC, as a student he worked at the Fish Hatchery in Jasper National Park. Small fish were back-packed to stock mountain lakes. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Zoology at UBC and then moved to the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Marine Ecology Lab to do research. John completed his PhD at Dalhousie University. He continued his research at Gulf Fisheries Centre in Moncton, NB.

John raised tropical fish throughout his entire life. He was interested in photography with the Lighthouse Photo Group, the NS Photo Guild. He was a keen gardener in East Gore and was a member of the Nova Scotia Dahlia Society, the Daylily Society and the Nova Scotia Orchid Society.

John’s joy in life was family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise (Oddy); daughter, Stephanie, Vancouver, BC; son, Denis (Sawitree); grandson, Herbert Andrew, Phenom-Penh, Cambodia; and son, Ryan (Colleen); grandsons, Brogan Francis and Nolan John, Calgary, Alta.

He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Herbert M. Oddy, Norman R. Oddy; cousins, Bob, Patsy McKernan, Allen, and Laura Robinson.

For the care and kindness extended to John, the family wishes to thank all at Colchester East Hants Health Centre and the Colchester East Hants Victorian Order of Nurses. We also thank friends and neighbors who have helped us without fail.

Roy Edmund Shipley

Shipley, Roy Edmund – It comes with greatest sorrow to announce the passing of my husband, Roy Shipley at home in Truro on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the age of 72. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Norman and Eva (Delaney) Shipley.

Roy was a seasonal highway worker

Roy will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, June (Stewart); brothers, Harold (Diane), Bible Hill; Calven (Darlene), Hilden; sister, Valerie (Emery) Lattie, Bible Hill; five sisters-in-law; and four brothers-in-law.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Robert Norman and Roy David in infancy.

Burial will be at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.

Gerald Homans

1946-2022. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my remarkable husband, Gerald on January 2, 2022. He was a very caring and loving person. He was an amazing father to our children, Artie, Scott, Jamie, Amy and Cody.

Gerald retired from Halifax Rehabilitation Center as a stationary engineer at the age of 52. Next on his journey was the role of Dockside Monitor with the Department of Fisheries. After two years, his biggest adventure started when he traveled to Alberta to work in the oil fields with our son, Scott. 

Gerald was predeceased by his son, Artie; brothers, Wayne and Bill; and sister, Linda.

Gerald leaves behind his faithful wife, Lorraine; brothers, Donny (Myrtle), Buck (Noreen); sisters, Kathy (Wayne) and Judy; and sister-in-law, Nancy. 

After 37 years I have lost the love of my life and my best friend, until we meet again, Rest Easy Hunny.

Bernice Mae Deal

Deal, Bernice Mae - Age 88, Truro Heights.  It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Mae Deal announce her passing on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after a brief illness.

Born in Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Alicia (Gibbons) & Arthur Fredericks.  She was an adherent of the Truro Heights United Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker all her married life and because of her love for children, she became a second Mom to many neighbouring children of working families.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Gary) Cain, Yarmouth; Blair (Norma), Salmon River; Paul (Linda Wenham), Lower Debert; and Anthony "Tony" Archibald (Juanita Whidden), Truro.  She is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sister, Gloria (Charles) Manthorne; brothers, Ray (Honey), Wayne (Lorraine), Robbie (Janice) & Harvey (Debbie).  She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, George; sister, Stella; and brothers, Edward, Clifford, Lorne, Irvin & Ralph. 

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date followed by interment of both she and George's ashes at a private family gathering in the Truro Heights Cemetery.

Marina Grace Boutilier

Boutilier, Marina Grace – Age 86, of Mushaboom passed away December 28, 2021 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Marina was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Verna Brown. 

Marina was a teacher and a homemaker to eight wonderful children. Mom enjoyed bingo, playing cards, knitting and darts, if she was winning.  Mom made the most delicious apple pies, and they were enjoyed by many people throughout the family and community. During her early years Mom was an avid volunteer in the community. 

Marina is survived by her sons, Reg, Wade, Chris, Lloyd (Kathy); and daughters, Liz (Steve), Angie (Peter), Stacey; and son-in-law, Sandy, 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Mom was predeceased by husband, Reginald “Ted”; daughter, Elaine; and daughter-in-law, Lorena.

As per Mom’s wishes cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Robert "Bob" Weldon Fisher

Fisher, Robert Weldon “Bob”- The funeral service for the late Robert “Bob” Weldon Fisher which was scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until later in the spring. Further details will be announced.  Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

Milton George Ferguson

Ferguson, Milton George – Age 84, born in Cleveland, Cape Breton, residing in Lantz, left to go fishing on Dec 28, 2021 from the Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro. Being an avid outdoorsman, he could no longer resist the call of the wild. 

His loving family, wife, Diana (Crowe) Ferguson; children, Barb Sharples (Allan Haglund), Joey Ferguson (Tammy Ferguson), Belinda Ferguson (Steve Vernon), Annette Ferguson (Fred Lee), Bobbi-Jo Ferguson-Hill (David Hill) and Sue Cole will miss him forever but are happy he is at peace and grateful to have been part of his world.  Mr. Milton/Moe also held a special place with all of his grandchildren and extended family Jessica, Ben, Connor, Joshua, Tristan, Brandon, Taylor, Ava, Tegan, Hunter, Rylan, Easton, Jaime Lee (Stephanie) and Tyler Lee (Alicia). 

There was nothing he couldn’t fix, figure out or invent. He always had time to help others and did it with a smile on his face. 

His 28 year career with the Department of National Defence is just one of many reasons we are proud of him.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Bait a hook and raise a glass in his memory.

Mary Iona MacLeod

MacLeod, Mary Iona – Age 80, of Nine Mile River, passed away December 26, 2021 in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche with her family by her side.

Born in Lantz, she was a daughter of the late Adriance and Ruby (Hines) Nieforth.

Mary had been employed for 19 years in the order processing department of Sears. She spent many hours watching the birds and tending her flower gardens.

She will always be loved and missed by her husband of 64 years, Alton; children, Jeanette (Greg) Mosher, Darlene (Ambrose) Horne, Deano (Donna), Galen; grandchildren, Trent, Dana, Keith, Kristal, Connor, Jamie; great-grandson, Carter; brothers, Sheldon and Freeman.

She was predeceased by daughter, Dawn; grandson, Evan; brother, Chester; and sister, Beulah.

Burial will be at a later date in Sand Hill Cemetery, Upper Nine Mile River.

Memorial donations may be made to Nine Mile River United Church general fund or Sand Hill Cemetery.

Captain Norman Russell Arnold

Arnold, Captain Norman Russell - age 75 of Oyster Pond died at home on December 26th, 2021.  Dad, a Master Mariner, was a Captain for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard for 35 years.  He was a member of the Ashlar Lodge No. 107 and former Worshipful Master.

He was born in Halifax to the late Norman and Velma (nee Mitchell) Arnold and was the oldest of 13 siblings.  Dad met Mom, Janette (nee Thomson), at the local hole in the bar in East Jeddore where they settled and raised their family. Left to grieve are daughters, Kelly Corkery (Tony Corkery) and Jennifer Arnold (Glenn Skiffington).  Affectionately known as “Cappy” by grandsons Russell, Micah, Seth, and Levi whom he adored and loved to torture. Additionally, he leaves behind a vast collection of Tilley hats and walking sticks. In Dad’s storied career, he circumnavigated the Arctic Circle, sailed around the world, fought in the Turbot Wars, and spent the best years of his life on research vessels in Northern Canada.  Dad was involved in search and rescue efforts for the Swiss Air tragedy and was deeply impacted by the events.  The Old Man gained a reputation as a fair man who didn’t put up with nonsense. Stormy Normy, a cancer survivor of both Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma, enjoyed terrorizing the nurses at the Home Dialysis Unit.  He more than earned his nickname. 

 In addition to his beloved of almost 50 years, wife, Janette; Dad was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Gabriel.  Left to mourn is a large family including Marlene (John) Jennex, Samuel (Verna), Hiram (Phyllis), Daniel (Helen), James, Peter, Elvona, Jesse, Joel, and Gideon (Beverley) and sister-in-law, Holly as well as mother-in-law, Noreen Thomson; brother-in-law, Donald (Meridy) Thomson and many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.  

His daughters wish to acknowledge with deep love and appreciation, his sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and John Jennex for their care and devotion to Dad. Their loyal service and companionship were his greatest comforts after Mom died.  Without their support he would not have been able to stay at home. Dad wasn’t an easy man, but he greatly valued his good friends and neighbours, Tommy and Ann Carroll and Jim and Ellen Richardson.  He recently said that there was never a harsh word spoken amongst them that wasn’t forgiven.  We should all be so fortunate to have good people in our lives.

No visitation by request.  A family graveside committal was held at Oyster Pond Baptist Cemetery, East Jeddore Road.  Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Old School Community Gathering Place, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, or a charity of your choice.

The sun is over the yardarm, Captain.  Rest easy.

Eric Walter Higgins

Higgins, Eric Walter – 1934-2021. Eric passed away peacefully on Christmas Day in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital.

Born in Higginsville, he was a son of the late Roy and Ruby (Jennings) Higgins.

Eric had been an employee of Canadian Tire in Dartmouth for 33 years, retiring in 1992. After retiring, Eric and Joyce moved to the Musquodoboit valley where they became very involved in many different activities. They spent many hours in the gardens – growing dahlias was a favorite of Eric’s.

Eric is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce (Purdy); his daughter, Colleen (Collin) Hillier; daughter-in-law, Janice. Eric was a devoted and loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Nathan (Nicole), Brittany, Melanie (Matt), Branden, Logan and Keagen. Eric is also survived by his sister, Viola Laybolt; sister-in-law, Ivy; many nieces and nephews.

Eric was recently predeceased by his son, Walter in April. He was also predeceased by his sister, Marion; brothers, Leslie, Erle, Lyle and Vernon; sisters-in-law, Edna, Mamie, and Marg; brothers-in-law, Fred and George.

In keeping with Eric’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In his memory, Eric would like you to do something special for someone you care about. He will be forever remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his enormous hugs.

Verna Hyde

      It is with great sadness that the family of Verna Hyde of Truro, Nova Scotia announces her passing at the age of 93 on December 23, 2021 after a short illness.

      Born and raised in Long River, Prince Edward Island, she was a graduate of Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown, and most of her working life was spent as a loyal employee of H. L. Sear Insurance in Charlottetown.  She also played an important part in the family business, Hyde Milling & Transport.

     Verna showed her family and friends unwavering support and love.  She was the rock in our family.  She was a caregiver, smart, sweet, kind and fair.  She loved feeding people, and, and never let you leave her house without a package to go.  She had a quick sense of humour, and perhaps her greatest accomplishment was to move through this world and depart it leaving us with only good memories.

      She was predeceased by her parents, David and Gertie Paynter; and her husband of 71 years, Roland earlier this year.  She will be sadly missed by her three children, Reg (Judy), Marilyn (Derek), and Marlene; three grandsons, Rick, Jarrod, and Devon; two granddaughters (her Princesses), Gillian and Ambera; and four great grandchildren, Joey, Ryan, Ash, and Dresdon.

A graveside service at West River Church in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Colchester SPCA.

Robert "Bob" Weldon Fisher

Fisher, Robert “Bob” Weldon – Age 72, Brookfield, passed away December 19, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre with family by his side.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Weldon and Frances (Banks) Fisher.

Bob was a long-time member of Brookfield Fire Department. He was a mechanic by trade and was well-known to be able to fix most anything. Hunting, fishing and trips in the camper were how he spent his spare time.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will always be missed by his wife of 50 years, Gloria (Reade); sons, Robin (Krista-Lee), Randy (Paula); daughter, Cindy (Aaron) Hinton; grandsons, Nicholas, Mitchell, Jaxon, Jarrett; brother, Ian (Kathy); many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 30, at 2 p.m. in Westside Cemetery, Brookfield.The new COVID-19 gathering limit of 50 will be in place. Proof of double vaccination, ID and masking is required to attend.

No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Carolynne Shirley Hooper

Hooper, Carolynne Shirley – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mom, nanny, sister and friend, Carolynne Shirley Hooper (Kelly), of Gay’s River on December 18, 2021, in her home.

Mom was born in Halifax to the late James and June (Reginald) Brannon.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Wayne.

Mom loved to knit, crochet, embroider, and read. She was a long-time member of the Shubenacadie Tinsmith Museum and Craft Shop. 

Mom leaves to mourn her children, Christine Sawler (Jeff), Hardwoodlands; Robin McMullen (Dan), Hardwoodlands; Peter Hooper (Christine), Coquitlam, BC; and Laura Hooper (Steve), Sooke, BC.

Nanny leaves behind her grandchildren; Brannon, Reilly, Marissa, Jordan, MacKenzie , Kyle, Lorien , Camille, Kayden, Logan and Koa; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Also surviving mom are her brothers and sisters, Jimmy Brannon (Judy),

Allan Brannon (Marlene), Linda Tancock (Ted), and Kathy Bennett.  She was predeceased by her sister Peggy Brannon.

Norman "Todd" Weatherhead

Weatherhead, Norman “Todd” – passed away at home in Rawdon Gold Mines on December 16, 2021 at the age of 46.

He was predeceased by his father, Norman Weatherhead; grandparents, Clyde and Gertie (Bond) Weatherhead; grandfather, Ken Fenton; cousins, Joey White and Shane MacPhee; father and mother-in-law, Dana and Orma Wilson; and great-grandmother, “Nana” Curran.

Todd is survived by his loving wife, Lana (Wilson); mother, Valerie (Fenton) Weatherhead, Rawdon Gold Mines; brother, Corey, Lower Sackville; grandmother, Lill Fenton, Falmouth; goddaughter, Megan White, Kennnetcook; sister-in-law, Tina Patten, Calmar, AB; nephew, Quinn Patten, Calmar, AB; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends

With heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Todd after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer at home surrounded by family and friends.  Todd was a long-time employee of The Shaw Group Ltd. where he was manager of the Block and Brick divisions.  Todd took great pride in his work. He was known to be somewhat stubborn but fair to all his employees and co-workers alike. All who knew Todd will remember and miss his sarcastic and somewhat dry sense of humor, quick wit and one-liners.  Todd’s love of music, especially Classic Country (Hank Williams: Jambalaya) and racing led him to an interest in travel, taking him to several popular locations with friends and family, such as Nashville, Bristol, New Hampshire and a near cross country trip across Canada. Todd loved to do the driving and as expected he was a firm believer that if you got off route there was no need to turn around. Todd had a “Keep it Real” attitude that earned him the respect and admiration of anyone he knew…whether they liked it or not.

Special thanks to Todd’s family and friends who visited, called and helped-out in many ways during his illness and all of Todd’s doctors and nurses in Halifax and Truro, VON care givers, nurses and palliative care team.

A Celebration of Todd’s life will be held later in 2022 once the weather turns warmer...a much better time for classic cars to be on the road

Robert "Bob" Weir Withrow

Withrow, Robert “Bob” Weir – Age 83 ½, Elmsdale, passed away peacefully December 15, 2021 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by his family. Born in Elmsdale, Bob was a son of the late John and Ada (Weir) Withrow.

Bob’s profession for the majority of his life was in the sheet metal trade. He was actively involved in playing baseball and hockey, and up to his final moments always enjoyed watching the games on tv, especially with his two grandsons. His favourite hockey team was the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he would not admit that to you. If you were ever looking for Bob, all you had to do was be over at the Elmsdale Legion where he could be found indulging in many crib games with his friends. He always said he could go 24 hours a day.

Bob will be missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Mazie (White); daughter, Lisa (Rob) Stone; sons, Jay, Todd, Tracy; sisters, Dianne Isenor, Carol (Glen) Brown. He was always a very special “Papa” and “Grampy” to Connor and Aiden. He will be forever remembered by several nieces and nephews and a great group of friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Russell and John.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan, in the spring of 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

LLoyd Allison Fisher

Fisher, Lloyd Allison – Age 86, of Middle Stewiacke passed away December 14, 2021 in The Mira Nursing Home, Truro.

Born in Middle Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Clarence and Lois (Peterson) Fisher.

Lloyd had a quick wit. He enjoyed being surrounded by young children because it brought out the child in him. In his early years, he worked as a woodsman and after that spent many years as a truckdriver. He will be remembered by his many friends for the yarns he spun and his hearty laughter.

Surviving are his children, Brenda (Larry) Watson, Elsa Fisher, Glenn (Noelline), Shawn (David) Rushton, Pansy Graham, Erven; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Marlene (Jimmy) Feener, Doreen Frank, Nancy (Dave) Keddy.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ola; son, Burton in infancy; brothers, Earl in infancy, Curtis and Victor.

A graveside service will be held in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Masks, proof of double vaccination and ID are required to attend.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

Stella Jane (Wright) Edmonds

Edmonds, Stella Jane – of Enfield. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Jane (Wright) Edmonds on December 13, 2021, at age 88. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Stella was a daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Ross) Wright of Upper Stewiacke.

Stella loved singing, hosting fiddle parties, puzzles, and enjoying time with her friends, family and her animals. She cared deeply for others, which carried through her career as a certified nurse assistant, and through to everyone that knew her. She married the love of her life, Arthur Edmonds, at the age of 23 and spent their lives travelling, sharing their love of country music and building a family to finally settle in Enfield, where they spent their last 30 years.

Stella is survived by her sister, Reta (Harry) Clarke and predeceased by her brother, Laurie (Reta) Wright. She is the mother of Christine, Diane and Arthur (Donna) Edmonds. She is the grandmother of 7, Jennifer, Nicole, Emily, Ellen, Shelley, Rebecca and William, and the great-grandmother of 11.

The family wants to thank the 6th floor nurses and emergency room staff for their kindness and compassion during her final days.

Due to the rise in Covid cases, the funeral service to celebrate the life of Stella is being postponed until the new year.

Donations in memory of Stella may be made to Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
