Combden, Eli David

Combden, Eli David – Upper Musquodoboit. Born on January 27, 1951. On January 17, 2015, Dave succumbed to his hard-fought struggle of 16 years with MS during which time he never complained. Dave was one of a kind. He was a selfless man with a heart of gold. He loved his family unconditionally, and became fast friends with everyone he met. During his working days, he was employed at DND Halifax, as a bosun on a dredger in Tuk., NWT. He was an oil burner mechanic working with several oil companies, and also owned his own oil burner service. He also worked at MacTara Lumber Mill. Dave took a great interest in current events and sports, especially watching his favorite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Surviving are his wife, Linda; daughter, Kelly (Steve) Dahr Hughes; son, David; grandchildren, Damien, Emma Jean, and Elliot; brothers, Esau (Ruby), Ralph (Lottie); sisters, Ethel (Joe) Anthony; Ivy (John) Quinlan; sister-in-law, Shirley Combden; stepsisters, Leah and Julia; stepbrother, Sam (Mary); also many extended family members; and special friend, Gerald Greening. He was predeceased by his parents, Eli Combden and Lucy Combden Godwin; stepfather, Israel Godwin; brother, Jim; stepbrothers, Steward and Nehemiah.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Interment will be at a later date in his hometown of Fogo Island, N.L. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation – Braeside, Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia B0N 1X0. Thank you for the kindness shown to Dave by all the staff at Braeside and the many friends he made during his stay there.
