Burns, Robert Edward – Of Truro. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend and companion on January 22, 2015, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by daughters, Bonnie Canfield (Elwood), Tatamagouche; Diane Hilchie (Steven), Enfield; Jeff Burns, Cambridge, B.C.; sisters, Gladys and Joan; brother, Mike; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Janet, his close companion. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Harry and Dorothy Burns; brother, Donnie and sister, Georgina.
Rob retired after many years of service with CN Rail. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Royal Canadian Air Force Club. He loved fishing, playing darts and enjoyed many trips to Florida, and his love for trains.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A service will be held to celebrate his life in Onslow United Church on Monday, January 26, at 3 p.m. beginning with a Legion Tribute. The family would like to thank all the nursing staff on the 3rd floor and Dr. Rowe for all their amazing support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
