Alting, Alie – Age 70, of Stewiacke, peacefully went to be with Jesus on February 12, 2015, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Lekkerkerk, Holland, she was a daughter of the late Klaas and Jannigje (Brand) Kleÿn. Alie was a nurse in Holland, where she met and married Bert in 1966. They immigrated to Canada in 1985, moving to a dairy farm in New Brunswick. Ten years later, they came to Nova Scotia to retire. She particularly enjoyed tole painting, knitting, sewing, as well as other crafts. She was an active member of Faith Community Church, taking part in many programs. The G.E.M.S. program was especially dear to her heart.
Surviving are her husband, Gysbert; brother, Arie; sister, Sjanie de Haay, both of Holland.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m., both in Faith Community Church, Milford, Pastor Paul Vanderkooy officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
